Convert a Word document into clean Markdown - here in this tab, with nothing uploaded.
Word documents travel with more than their text: tracked changes, comments and the author's name. Uploading one to be converted hands all of it over. This reads the .docx inside the tab and keeps only the words and their structure.
.docx - the format Word has used since 2007, and what Pages and Google Docs export. The old binary .doc needs saving as .docx first.
Headings (from Word's heading styles), bold, italic, lists, tables and links. Fonts, colours and page layout are dropped, which is the point of Markdown.
Because in the document they are bold text, not headings. Word only knows a heading is a heading if it uses a Heading style.
Left out by default so the Markdown stays readable. You can choose to keep them, embedded in the text as data URIs.
