Turn a video into a SCORM package without uploading it

Wrap an MP4 as a SCORM course that tracks how much was watched - here in this tab, with nothing uploaded.

How to convert a video to SCORM

  1. Drop your video in - MP4 plays in every learner's browser.
  2. Choose how much must be watched, and whether skipping ahead is allowed.
  3. Save the zip and upload it to your LMS as a SCORM package.

Why this one stays private

Training videos are big, internal and often recorded in a meeting room with colleagues on camera. Packing one here means no upload to a converter on the way to your LMS: the zip is made in this tab from the file already on your disk.

Questions

How does it know the video was watched?

It counts the seconds actually played, not where the playhead ended up, so dragging to the end does not count. When the share you set is reached - 90% by default - the course is reported as completed.

Can I stop learners skipping ahead?

Yes. With that option on, learners can rewind and rewatch but cannot jump past the furthest point they have played.

Does it remember where they stopped?

Yes. The position and what has been watched are saved in the LMS, so a learner who leaves halfway picks up from there.

Which video formats work?

MP4 (H.264) plays in every browser and is the safe choice. WebM works in most. A MOV from an iPhone often plays too; if it will not play in the preview, convert it to MP4 first with the video converter on this site.

Is the video re-encoded?

No. It goes into the package exactly as it is, so the quality is untouched and packing takes seconds.
