Questions

Does converting lose quality?

Only when it has to. If the video inside already suits the new format it is copied across untouched - MKV to MP4 with H.264 inside loses nothing and takes seconds. Otherwise the picture is re-encoded at a quality setting high enough that the difference is hard to see.

Is the sound kept?

Yes. The audio is copied across when the new format can hold it, and converted when it cannot.

Which formats can it open?

MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, TS, MPG, 3GP and most others - including the ones browsers cannot play, because the page brings its own decoder: FFmpeg, compiled to WebAssembly.

Why is there a 10 MB download?

That is the converter itself. It comes from this site the first time you convert, and your browser keeps it. Your video is never uploaded: after that first time, turn off the Wi-Fi and it still works.

How long does it take?
