Free to use, for personal and commercial work alike, and provided as is. The important clause is the one asking you to keep your originals.

Using the site

Private Online Tools is free to use, for personal and commercial work alike, with no account and no licence to buy. You keep every right you already had in the files you edit: since they are never sent to me, I could not claim anything in them even if I wanted to.

Please do not use the site to break the law, and do not attempt to disrupt it for other people.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Software has bugs, browsers differ, and a conversion or an edit can go wrong. I make no guarantee that a tool will be available, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose.

Keep your originals

This is the practical version of the paragraph above, and the one worth acting on. Always keep a copy of the original file until you have checked the result. Tools here write a new file rather than modifying your original, but a redaction you did not verify, or an export you assumed worked, is your own copy to check. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for lost or damaged files or for any loss arising from using the site.

Redaction deserves a specific note. The tools flatten redacted pages to images so the hidden text cannot simply be copied back out, which is more than a black rectangle drawn over the words achieves. Even so, if a document matters — a legal filing, a medical record, anything disclosed to a third party — open the exported file and confirm with your own eyes that it shows what you intend before you send it.

Your browser does the work

Because everything runs on your own device, what a tool can handle depends on your computer and your browser. Very large files can be slow or can run out of memory, and video export in particular depends on what your browser supports. A tool failing on a large file is a limit of the machine it is running on, not a fault to report — though if something fails that you think should work, please tell me.

Availability and changes

Tools may be added, changed or removed, and the site may be unavailable at times. I will avoid breaking things that people rely on, but this is a free service offered without any guarantee of continuity.

Intellectual property

The name, the design and the text of this site belong to me. The underlying application is open source and published under the MIT licence, so you are free to read it, run it yourself, and satisfy yourself that it does what this site says it does.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Spanish law.
